1. Why this page exists
Trust labels only help if they mean something specific. This page states exactly what RentPal checks today, so you can judge for yourself how much weight to give a badge.
2. What listing moderation is
Every listing a landlord submits enters a review queue. A member of RentPal staff reviews the submitted details and photographs and moves the listing to one of these states:
- Draft — the landlord is still preparing it. Not visible to anyone else.
- Pending — submitted and awaiting review. Not publicly visible.
- Approved — reviewed and published. Only approved listings appear in search or on a public property page.
- Rejected — reviewed and refused, with a reason given to the landlord, who may correct it and resubmit.
- Suspended — temporarily removed from public view, typically pending a query or a report.
- Archived — withdrawn permanently from public view.
Moderation is a review of what was submitted. It is not an inspection of the property, a title search, or a confirmation that the landlord is entitled to let the property.
3. What the verification flow is
Landlords and tenants can upload identity and ownership documents through the verification section of their dashboard. Documents are stored privately and reviewed by RentPal staff, who mark each one approved or rejected with notes. A verified marker means documents were submitted and accepted at a point in time. It does not guarantee the current legal status of a property, the solvency or honesty of a person, or the outcome of a tenancy.
4. Review capacity
Moderation and verification are performed manually by RentPal staff. Turnaround depends on staffing and volume; there is no guaranteed review time, and a submitted document may sit as pending until a reviewer reaches it.
5. What you should still do
- Visit the property in person before paying anything.
- Ask to see ownership or management authority documents yourself.
- Keep negotiations and records on the platform.
- Never pay rent to a personal account outside the platform for a tenancy arranged here.
6. Reporting a problem
If a listing or badge looks wrong, tell us through the Support & Disputes page and we will re-review it.
